Movie Night

The plan for this evening is to open at 6:45 P.M. in short form, have a "whirlwind" meeting (our current record is 22 minutes) and then have a movie and refreshments in the dining hall.  The movie should be done by 9:30 P.M.

If the time is too early and you cannot make the meeting, please join us for the movie afterwards anyway ... this is a social evening.

Visitors and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and comfortable clothes to change into if desire).  Refreshments will be provided by Bethlehem Chapter.

The scheduled movie is "Evan Almighty", a family friendly comedy about what happens when God asks an average 21st century man to build an Ark.

FUNDRAISERS

The Yankee baseball trip on July 19th is sold out.

Sister Barbara Miller is running a trip on August 2nd in support of Jean DeSisto's Casino Boat Trip in Lynn, MA to raise money for her Cancer project for General Grand Chapter.

The bus will leave Sheldon Field in Northampton at 7 a.m., and seating is limited to 40 persons.  The cost is $47, which includes the Casino Trip, and in fact is the same price as if yo udrove to Lynn yourself.  Non OES members are also invited.  For more information, please contact Sister Barbara at home.

ANNUAL SUMMER PICNIC

August 17, 2008

As of right now, our annual summer picnic is scheduled to be held once again at the home of Fred and Anna Wood.  Since Fred and Anna are contemplating moving, please watch for details to follow.

BETHLEHEM CHAPTER'S 120TH ANNIVERSARY!

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Plans are underway for us to celebrate our 120th Anniversary.  The committee is already working to make this an enjoyable and memorable event, and hope that all members will be willing and able to attend.

Details will follow, but save the date!

CONDOLENCE

Bethlehem Chapter would like to extend our deepest sympathy to our own Sister L. Arlene Sandlerson, P.M., on the lost of her son.

FROM THE EAST

Bob and I wish to extend our thanks to the officers and members who regularly and faithfully attend our meetings.  Bethlehem Chapter may be small, but we take our work seriously and then know when to have fun.  We look forward to another year of working as a team and strengthening bonds as Sisters and Brothers.  Our Chapter is blessed in so many ways; we have a Grand Officer and a Past Grand Matron and we are very proud of both of them.  We will celebrate 120 years this year.  What an accomplishment for our chapter!  And in working to dig our roots here in equally historic Williamsburg, we'll secure our Chapter for the next 120 years.

Please come and join us for our meetings.  We have a year chock full of activities ahead, planned purely with your social enjoyment in mind.  We'd love to welcome our own members as well as our visitors.  Please come and join us in June for Movie Night.....Evan Almighty is a movie you don't want to miss, a "comedy of Biblical proportions"!

Fraternal love,

Marie and Bob

Bethlehem Chapter No. 24

Northampton

In June 1888 twenty-eight people journeyed to Doric Chapter in Easthampton to be instructed in the procedure of instituting an Eastern Star Chapter in Northampton.  On the trip home the starry  decked heavens suggested the name Bethlehem to them.  thus, the Chapter received its name.
