ORIENT CHAPTER NO. 31

Instituted September 12, 1890

Constituted December 31, 1890

A history of the Chapter compiled in 1908 by Sister Haliday F. Oaks, P.M. reports as follows: "When the formal petition for a Charter was accepted by Grand Chapter, sixty five names were enrolled, twenty-five couples and fifteen unappropriate blessings.  Naming the Chapter was discussed long and earnestly.  Nominations for names were received - Minerva, Bethany, Louis Maynard, Cecelia and Orient.  The formal ballot resulted in Orient being chosen."  Having reference to the East Orient seems particularly appropriate.
